Brian Thompson, Ph.D.
Do you find yourself struggling with pain, anxiety, or depression? Do you feel stuck, like you don’t even know what you want to do with your life?
Meaningful living is closer than you think:
For many of us, the problem is not that we aren’t trying, but that what we’re doing isn’t working. My goal is to help you discover what works—for you. I help people expand their choices so that they have more options in their lives. Meaningful living is closer than you think. It doesn’t have to take years and years. I’m happy to see people for as long as they find therapy helpful; ultimately, however, my aim is to help people learn to live their lives more effectively and to develop the skills to continue learning without me.
What I offer:
As a licensed clinical psychologist, I value openness, compassion, and kindness. I strive to create an environment where people feel safe and where they have choices. I try to tailor therapy to each individual. Treatment can be as structured or unstructured as you need.
When I’m not seeing people, I spend my time researching, writing, learning, and teaching other professionals in order to continually challenge myself to offer the best care I can.
I specialize in cognitive behavioral treatments, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In addition to reading and attending professional workshops, I spent a year receiving specialty training in ACT. I’ve spent over a decade working and learning across a variety of educational and therapeutic environments.
I mainly provide one-on-one therapy. I work with a variety of difficulties, such as relationships, self-esteem, emotional ups and downs, and lack of direction. Below are some links to more specific problems I work with, but I also realize that many struggles don’t have easy labels.
