Functional Analytic Psychotherapy

At Portland Psychotherapy we focus on utilizing evidence-based treatments in our work with clients. One of the empirically-supported treatments we utilize in our relationship counseling work is a type of cognitive behavior therapy called Functional Analytic Psychotherapy, or FAP (pronounced as one word). FAP is designed to help alleviate difficulties and problems in relationships with others.

FAP focuses on utilizing the relationship with your therapist to access your innate capacity to develop rich and meaningful connections with others. FAP often involves taking risks with your therapist and others, being aware of how you impact others and how others impact you, and continuing to develop your own way of being more loving and intimate with your loved ones. FAP is an empirically-supported treatment that has undergone significant scientific study. For more information on FAP, please visit http://www.functionalanalyticpsychotherapy.com/.
