Paul Guinther, Ph.D.
Dr. Guinther is a Psychologist Resident in Oregon. He has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and describes his approach to the psychotherapy as the following: “I see the therapeutic process as involving three main parts. First, I want to hear about your struggles and come to know you as a person. I genuinely care about my clients, and want to hear about the areas of your life where you are looking for growth and healing. I want to learn what is working well for you, and to learn what isn’t working the way you would like. Second, I help you discover and clarify what is truly meaningful and worthwhile to you personally. Developing a clear sense of your personal values is very important when it comes to us working on improving your quality of life. Finally, we work together to find ways to express your values and live a meaningful life, even in the face of life’s inevitable hardships. I deeply respect my clients for the courage they show by engaging in therapy, and I work hard to be a compassionate, understanding, and effective guide. I specialize in Clinical Behavior Analysis, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I also use other scientifically validated Cognitive Behavioral Therapies when I feel it is best for my clients, and draw on Functional Analytic Psychotherapy and Motivational Interviewing to inform my practice.”
