Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Peer Consultation Group

For Mental Health Professionals and Students interested in ACT

There are currently two Acceptance and Commitment Therapy peer consultation groups running in the Portland area, one on the east side and one on the west. These groups are composed of independent clinicians who have formed a group for the purpose of learning Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. They are not under the control of any one individual or organization, including Portland Psychotherapy. We list these groups on our website as part of our mission to help clinicians learn science-based approaches to psychotherapy through accessible and affordable means.

ACT peer consultation group

Every 2nd Friday of the month, Portland Psychotherapy hosts an ACT peer consultation group from 3:30-5:30pm. This group is a forum for clinicians to engage in didactic and experiential consultation about the clinical use of ACT. It is mainly composed of professionals working in the mental health field, but graduate students pursuing a mental health-related degree are also welcome.

The group is egalitarian in that members take turns being responsible for keeping the group on track. The first hour is devoted to announcements, news, ACT-related questions, brief consultation questions, and other miscellaneous business items. The second hour is generally focused on a clinical case presented without the use of names or identifying information. The therapist presenting the case then receives experiential and didactic consultation on this case.

If you are interested in attending, please read our ACT Peer Consultation Group Mission Statement so you can understand what our group is all about.

Also, we have a particular outline and group roles that we use. If you are interested in seeing those, they are listed below:

The consultation is an open group, and people may attend whenever they are able. To be placed on the consult group email list, email Jenna LeJeune. The group is held at Portland Psychotherapy, 1830 NE Grand Ave, Portland, OR, 97212. For directions and a map to Portland Psychotherapy, click here.

Westside ACT peer consultation group

This second ACT peer consultation group was formed in April, 2011 and meets at 4858 S.W. Scholls Ferry Rd.  You can find directions to the location here

This group meets the third Friday of the month from 2:45 – 4:45 pm. Sheryl Eldene is the contact for this group. Please email her at: sheryl@oplcenter.com if you are interested in attending.
